Our Story
Platinum Pathways was created after recognising that many talented athletes miss overseas opportunities simply due to lack of structured guidance. Our approach focuses on matching each athlete with the right academic, financial, and rugby environment.

Our Team
LIAM LE ROUX
His playing background includes:
- Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (Stellenbosch)
- Blue Bulls U/20s (Pretoria)
- Experience in elite rugby development environments such as Gloucester and Worcester Warriors rugby (England)
- 50+BUCS Super Rugby caps, Crowned BUCS Super Rugby champion in 2025 (Varsity Cup in England)
- First-hand knowledge of balancing sport and academics abroad
His personal academic research at Hartpury University identifiedthat 72% of rugby students studying abroad in the US and UK were not satisfied with the service they received from Scholarship Consultants or Sport Agencies. The primary reason for this dissatisfaction was that, once placed at a university, many students felt unsupported and misled—experiencing limited follow-up communication, inadequate preparation for academic and cultural transitions, and a lack of ongoing welfare support after arrival. From these findings, Platinum Pathways was born as a personalised specialist rugby scholarship company, aiming to provide better guidance and support for students seeking opportunities abroad.

Currently based in Charlotte, USA, Liezl studied sports science at the University of Pretoria

Liezl has built a successful career in sales and marketing, amassing valuable experience across multiple industries in both Switzerland and the United States over the past twenty years. Her extensive professional background equips her with the skills necessary to navigate complex business environments and effectively communicate with diverse audiences. In her current role, she is responsible for ensuring the well-being of students during their stay in the United States, providing them with the support and guidance they need to thrive both academically and personally.
LEILANI LE ROUX
With a psychology background and experience in finance and HR, Leilani provides:
- Parent support and communication
- Student administration guidance
- Social media and engagement management
Her personal experience as a parent of rugby scholarship students provides valuable insight for families navigating this journey. Leilani fully understands what impact it has on a parent with two sons studying abroad, one in the UK and the other in the USA, both on a rugby scholarship. Her personal experience as a supportive mother enables her to empathise with other parents in similar situations, and she is well-equipped to assist parents with any queries they may have regarding their children’s education and athletic opportunities.
